To Love is to reach God. Never will a Lover's chest feel any sorrow. Never will a Lover's robe be touched by mortals. Never will a Lover's body be found buried in the earth. To Love is to reach God. ~Rumi Translated by: Shahram Shiva rumi.net
In the golden city of the heart dwells The Lord of Love, without parts, without stain. Know him as the radiant light of lights. There shines not the sun, neither moon nor star, Nor flash of lightning, nor fire lit on earth. The Lord is the light reflected by all. He shining, everything shines after him. Mundaka Upanishad 2.2.10-11
Gitanjali - Song Offerings by Rabindranath Tagore 14. My desires are many and my cry is pitiful, but ever didst thou save me by hard refusals; and this strong mercy has been wrought into my life through and through. Day by day thou art making me worthy of the simple, great gifts that thou gavest to me unasked---this sky and the light, this body and the life and the mind---saving me from perils of overmuch desire. There are times when I languidly linger and times when I awaken and hurry in search of my goal; but cruelly thou hidest thyself from before me. Day by day thou art making me worthy of thy full acceptance by refusing me ever and anon, saving me from perils of weak, uncertain desire.
When you have found the desire to be, for which every other desire is a compensation, this desire, this emotion should be sustained in you. You must live with this desire. ~Jean Klein
The Gospel of Thomas Translated by Stephen Patterson and Marvin Meyer 74. He said, "Lord, there are many around the drinking trough, but there is nothing in the well."
Chuang Tzu Great and Small Great knowledge is broad and encompassing Small knowledge is detailed and meticulous Great talk is powerful and forceful Small talk is endless and argumentative In their sleeping hours their spirits are restless In their waking hours their bodies are agitated When they deal with others they get entangled The entire day they plot and scheme Some speak deliberately Some set traps with words Some are secretive Small fears make them apprehensive Great fears make them panic When they speak, their words are like arrows shot out Seeking others' weak spots to cause damage When they keep quiet, it is as if they have sworn an oath Looking for opportunities to achieve victory When they fail, it is like Autumn or Winter We can say that they decline day after day When they are trapped in this situation They cannot return to their true nature When they are obstructed as if bound We can say that they wither and shrivel The heart that is nearing death Cannot regain life and vitality Joy, anger, sadness, happiness Worry, regret, change, horror Impetuous, undisciplined, unruly, pretentious Like sound coming out of holes, Or fungus growing out of humidity Day and night they clash before us Yet they do not know the root cause Enough! Enough! Once they understand this, Will they then comprehend the principle of life? Without it, I cannot exist Without me, there is no one to appreciate it Therefore I am close to it But I do not know what governs it There must be a supreme ruler But I cannot discern any trace of it I can believe it exists from its actions But I cannot see its shape It has existence, but no physical form
Love for Certain Work Rumi Traveling is as refreshing for some as staying at home is for others. Solitude in a mountain place fills with companionship for this one, and dead-weariness for that one. This person loves being in charge of the workings of a community. This one loves the ways that heated iron can be shaped with a hammer. Each has been given a strong desire for certain work. A love for those motions, and all motion is love. The way sticks and pieces of dead grass and leaves shift about in the wind and with the direction of rain and puddle-water on the ground, those motions are all a following of the love they've been given. (Mathnawi III, 1616-1619) Rumi: One-Handed Basket Weaving Trans. Coleman Barks
Our faith must be alive. It cannot be just a set of rigid beliefs and notions. Our faith must evolve every day and bring us joy, peace, freedom and love. ~Thich Nhat Hanh
Universal Order and Truth were born of blazing spiritual fire, and thence night was born, and thence the billowy ocean of space. >From the billowy ocean of space was born Time--the year ordaining days and nights, the ruler of every moment. In the beginning, as before, the Creator made the sun, the moon, the heaven and the earth, the firmament and the realm of light. Rig Veda 10.190.1-3
