Take one step away from yourself - and behold! - the Path! - Abu Sa`id
"The course of heaven is outside time--and yet time comes from its movements. Nothing hinders the soul's knowledge of God as much as time and space, for time and space are fragments, whereas God is one! And therefore, if the soul is to know God, it must know him above time and outside of space; for God is neither this nor that, as are these manifold things. God is one!" ~Meister Eckhart
I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope, for hope would be hope for the wrong thing; Wait without love, for love would be love of the wrong thing; There is yet faith; But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting. Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought: So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing. ~T S Eliot
In a human being is such a love, a pain, an itch, a desire that, even if he were to possess a hundred thousand worlds, he would not rest or find peace. People work variously at all sorts of callings, crafts, and professions, and they learn astrology and medicine, and so forth, but they are not at peace because what they are seeking cannot be found. The beloved is called dilaram because the heart finds peace through the beloved. How then can it find peace through anything else? Signs of the Unseen: The Discourses of Jalaluddin Rumi, p. 66
Gitanjali - Song Offerings by Rabindranath Tagore 18. Clouds heap upon clouds and it darkens. Ah, love, why dost thou let me wait outside at the door all alone? In the busy moments of the noontide work I am with the crowd, but on this dark lonely day it is only for thee that I hope. If thou showest me not thy face, if thou leavest me wholly aside, I know not how I am to pass these long, rainy hours. I keep gazing on the far-away gloom of the sky, and my heart wanders wailing with the restless wind.
Ignorant is he who says, "What I say and know is true; others are wrong." It is because of this attitude of the ignorant that there have been doubts and misunderstandings about God. This attitude it is that causes dispute among men. But all doubts vanish when one gains self-control and attains tranquillity by realizing the heart of Truth. Thereupon dispute, too, is at an end. Hinduism. Srimad Bhagavatam 11.15
From: http://www.hundredmountain.com/ DO NOT DESPISE THE SMALL ACT. Every small act, if you do it deeply, profoundly, can touch the whole universe. My small act, your small act, her small act, his small act. Millions of small acts will build a wonderful world. You can move the hearts of thousands of people. --Chan Khong (from "Fierce Compassion," an interview in "Inquiring Mind," Vol. 15, No. 1, Fall 1998)
When I left home and faced the realities of the world, I put my thoughts of God in cold storage for awhile, because I couldn't reconcile what I believed, deep inside, with what was going on around me. But that early period, when God was as real as the wind that blew from the sea through the pine trees in the garden, left me with inner peace, which, as I grew older, swelled -- until, perforce, I had to open my mind to God again. ~ Jane Goodall
The man or woman who realizes God has everything and lacks nothing. Having this, one desires nothing further; He cannot be shaken by the heaviest burden of sorrow. Life cannot threaten such a person; All it holds is the opportunity to love, to serve , and to give. ~ Eknath Easwaran
The Gospel of Thomas Translated by Stephen Patterson and Marvin Meyer 78. Jesus said, "Why have you come out to the countryside? To see a reed shaken by the wind? And to see a person dressed in soft clothes, [like your] rulers and your powerful ones? They are dressed in soft clothes, and they cannot understand truth."
