When we talk about the witness in our verse, we talk about you. A pure heart and a noble demeanor cannot compete with your radiant face. They will ask you what you have produced. Say to them, except for Love, what else can a Lover produce? ~Rumi Trans Shahram Shiva rumi.net
Now is the gracious Lord's ordinance promulgated, No one shall cause another pain or injury; All mankind shall live in peace together, Under a shield of administrative benevolence. Adi Granth, Sri Raga, M.5, p. 74
Where there is beauty, there is ugliness. When something is right, something else is wrong. Knowledge and ignorance depend on each other. It has been like this since the beginning. How could it be otherwise now? Wanting to toss out one and hold onto the other makes for a ridiculous comedy. You must still deal with everything ever-changing, even when you say it's wonderful. ~Ryokan
The capacity of the mind is as great as that of space. It is infinite, neither round nor square, neither great nor small, neither green nor yellow, neither red nor white, neither above nor below, neither long nor short, neither angry nor happy, neither right nor wrong, neither good nor evil, neither first nor last. All universes are as void as space. Intrinsically our transcendental nature is void and not a single thing can be attained. It is the same with the Essence of Mind, which is a state of Absolute Void. ~Sutra of Hui Neng
This is from: 'Long Days Journey into Night' Eugene O'Neill I lay on the bowsprit, facing astern, with the water foaming into spume under me, the masts with every sail white in the moomlight, towering high above me. I became drunk with the beauty and singing rhythm of it , and for a moment I lost myself - actually lost my life. I was set free! I dissolved in the sea, became white sails and flying spray, became beauty and rhythm, became moonlight and the ship and the high dim-starred sky! I belonged, without past or future, within peace and unity and a wild joy, within something greater than my own life, or the life of Man, to Life itself! To God, if you want to put it that way. And several other times in my life, when I was swimming far out, or lying alone on a beach, I have had the same experience. Become the sun, the hot sand, green seaweed anchored to a rock, swaying in the tide. Like a saint's vision of beatitude. Like the veil of things as they seem drawn back by an unseen hand. For a second you see - and seeing the secret, are the secret. For a second there is meaning!
The Gospel of Thomas
Translated by Stephen Patterson and Marvin Meyer
71. Jesus said, "I will destroy [this] house, and no one will be able to
build it [...]."
The all-meaning circle: No in, no out; No light, no shade. Here all saints are born. ~Shoichi
This above all -- to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.. ~Shakespeare, Hamlet I.iii
Hang up the swing of love today!
Hang the body and the mind between the arms of the Beloved,
in the ecstasy of love's joy:
Bring the tearful streams of the rainy clouds to your eyes,
and cover your heart with the shadow of darkness:
Bring your face nearer to His ear,
and speak of the deepest longings of your heart.
Kabir says:
'Listen to me, brother! bring the vision of the Beloved in your heart.'
~KABIR

"Deep within the self is the Light of God. It radiates throughout the expanse of His creation. Through the Guru's teachings, the darkness of spiritual ignorance is dispelled. The heart lotus flower blooms forth and eternal peace is obtained, as one's light merges into the Supreme Light." ~Guru Amar Das, Majh, pg. 126
